Listed below are some ways you may share in our Worship leadership:
The Altar Guild
Members work in teams to prepare the altar and church for all worship, including weddings and funerals.
Choir
Singing and musical leadership each Sunday morning and for extra worship, especially at Christmas and Easter. The choir meets for rehearsal on Thursdays 7:30 - 9:30pm
Eucharist Assistant
Help administer communion on Sundays mornings. Authorized for a two-year period, assistants administer the elements as part of the liturgy team on a regular basis.
Instrumental Group
A lively group of guitar players and other instrumental musicians who play during the Sunday 9:30 am worship
Leadership for Children's Performing Arts/Choir
Accompany or help with leadership for this group.
Lead Prayers of the People
Prepare and offer the Prayers of the People during worship on a regularly scheduled basis. (Approximately 8 times per year)
Reader's Guild
Read the assigned weekly bible lesson during the services, on a regularly scheduled basis.
Server's Guild
Assist in the Sanctuary during worship. Adults serve Sundays at 8:00 am. Youth, grade 5 and up, serve at 9:30 & 11:15am.
Welcoming Team
Welcome everyone who passes through the doors of St. Christopher's on Sunday morning. Members greet and show people around introducing them to others. They also help seat and assist the congregation during worship, and interact with everyone, especially new people, at coffee time.
Worship Leader
Be part of a team that leads worship at nursing and retirement homes. Several teams rotate on Sunday mornings.
There are many other opportunities for you to volunteer:
Fit for Service
A low-impact exercise program taught by a certified instructor each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning (9:30 - 10:30 am).
Ginger Group
This fellowship group for retired gentlemen meets for sherry at 11:45 am, then lunch, followed by a variety of guest speakers. This group meets every 5 or 6 weeks. Watch the bulletin for dates.
Open-Enders
This group meets the first Monday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Family Room. Join in these informal open-ended discussions on matters of belief.
Men's Cooking Group
A group for men to learn the basics of cooking, and enjoy a time of fellowship. Meets monthly. Contact Anne Hay at 905-634-1809.
Seniors Afternoon Social
From 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Come and enjoy games and cards or just chat and have refreshments. Speak with Joan Butcher at 905.523.1830.
Open Doors
We operate a free clothing store in Room 3 & 4 each Tuesday from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00am - Noon. Come check us out and if you would like to be on a roster to be a host or to help sort the clothes speak with Gloria Campbell. Click here.
Kids' Club/Tween Club
An after-school program for school-aged children on Tuesdays beginning at 4:00 pm and ending with supper at 6:00 pm.
Activities are varied, tailored to each age group, and includes a snack.
Community Supper
Come join us for supper each Tuesday night, open to everyone. Help with set up, cooking, or clean up would be appreciated. Pay what you can to cover costs. Invite your friends and neighbours. Supper is served at 6:00 pm. For more information, click here.
Parent Connection
10:00 - 11:30 every Wednesday morning; an opportunity for parents to meet together for coffee, tea, discussion, activities, information, and support. Childcare for pre-school children is provided. Speak with Sue or Ilona for more information.
Book Club
If you like books and reading and would enjoy feisty discussion, please join us on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 pm in the Family Room.
Shine!
An exciting after school performing arts club for children (age 6+) and teens; Thursdays 4pm -6pm. Please speak to Andy or Ilona for more information or click here.
Group Guitar Rehearsal
If you would like to be part of the guitar group that provides music for the Sunday 9:30 am worship , join with John Stephen in the Pre School Room on Thursdays at 6:30. Click here
Senior Choir
In addition to providing musical leadership for the 9:30 am Sunday worship, the choir also performs special music for Christmas and Easter and other concerts throughout the year. Weekly rehearsals are at 7:30 pm. Click here for more information.
Environmental Group
This group meets following the 11:15am service on Sunday on an as-needed basis to discuss and act on environmental issues. For more information, contact the office at staff@stchristophersburlington.com .
Singles' Group
Meets monthly on a Friday evening for bowling, board games, minigolf and more. Contact the office for more information.
Bridge
Are you interested in playing bridge twice a month? This group meets every second Friday at 7:30 pm from September to May. Contact the office for more information.
Halton Fresh Food Box
This program provides good value and quality for health to the Halton community. Packing and distribution is every third Tuesday of the month. Help is always needed. Click here for more information.
Drivers
We are always in need of drivers to:
- assist seniors who would like to attend the Seniors' Afternoon Social on Tuesday afternoons
- take parishioners to medical appointments
- provide a ride to church on Sunday mornings 9:30am service
